Mahogany & Ply Magazine
Case Jeff Hohner, 2002 The rich look of this piece is achieved by chemically treating the veneer with a solution of potassium bichromate. This transforms the light orange tones of the mahogany into rich chocolate browns. Next, the wood is sealed and the pores of the mahogany are filled with a black pigment to create depth. This is a time consuming finish, but worth the effort. |
